ASSIGNMENTS

Microsoft Word

We have been exposed to the word processing software Microsoft Word 2007. 
We, instructed to follow the steps that had been taught as a module to help us to be more proficient in the use of this software. We were also given a task to prepare a certificate of appreciation as a complementary task to end this topic. 

Through this assignment, we manage to successfully using Cell Merge technique in Words, in which actually save our time and energy. So, actually, Cell Merge is a technique where we can apply as many as possible recipients using the same letter or certificate. For this Cell Merge, first using the exists letter or certificate, remove the recipients name and address. Next, click Mailings>Start Mail Merge> Step by Step Merge Wizard. Select document type, choose Letters and click Next: Start document.

Since, we use the existing letters, we just need to  click Current document and click Next: Select Recipients. Since we do not have any recipients list, we need to create one so click Type a new list> Create and New address list will be pop up. In the dialog box of New Address List there will be a lot of data need to be provided. Since, the we only need a few data, the rest of the data can be deleted. For this, click, Customize Column>Field Names>Select>Delete. Enter the new data and click New Entry to insert new recipients. Save the list in your letter folder and the list can be edit in the future for the same or different letter. 

Next, click Select All>Ok>Next:Write your letter>Address Block and Insert Address Block dialog box will be pop up and you can choose how your recipients address will look like. Click Ok>Next: Preview your letters>Next:Complete the merge. And that how we do Cell Merge.

Power Point Presentation


Microsoft Power Point is a presentation software package that is provided in Microsoft Office. This software provides a space for the construction of electronic presentation consisting of multiple slides. Power point presentations normally used for such purposes is presented seminars, presentations by lecturers, presentation of assignments by students, presentation of products for business and more. 

In this topic, we are given task to provide 2 power point related to the islands of Malaysia and about our self. While producing power point, we are required to include interesting graphics, build table and charts, to include elements of sound and animations in order to make our presentation  is more attractive. We can also create a hyperlink to go direct into the certain slide or visits the certain website.

Microsoft Excel

Then, we have been given task to create and explore Microsoft Excel applicaton.
Microsoft Excel is a software application that is popular worksheet produced by Microsoft Corporation. Its use is to produce various kinds of worksheets, including the use of text, calculation and manipulation of numbers and charts. 

In this topic, we are given assignments which specializes in the use of Worksheet in schools to help teachers process the data associated with the list of attendance and student achievement. In addition, we are also was given a task to produce Worksheet on business profile earned through our imagination to help us launch our skills in producing assignments related software Excel more efficient.

Through this assignment, we manage to skillfully perform varioustechniques in Excel software that can save our time and energy. First,we learn to valid data using validation. Validation will help us to warn us if there is wrong data enter or the data is out of our range. 

Secondly, we learn how to use VLOOKUP. VLOOKUP is atechnique for setting the level, grade or status data with the use of areference table that has been built. In this case, the table with thegrades and marks was built on different sheets in order of lower to higher values. Click on the box that need to be state the grade click Formulas>Fx Insert Function>select a categropry>Lookup& Reference>select a function> VLOOKUP>Ok. Fill the table with the data needed and click Ok.

Next, we learn to use Countif to do summarize the data based on the student grade. Using Countif, we can actually know how many students obtain that certain grade for the subject. So that we don't need to calculate one by one the data. In this case, copy the grade scale and paste on cell box and click on the box next to the grade scale. Click Formulas>Fx Insert Function>select a category> Stastical> select a function>COUNTIF>Ok. Function Argumaents box will be pop up. Fill the table using the data obtained. On Criteria type "TH" depends on the scale you want it to be and Ok. That how Countif can be done.We also insert chart to make our work can be easily interprets using the data obtained. All the technique we learn will be applied on the another assignment.

GIMP

We are given chance to explore photos editing.
Software known as GIMP or GNU Image Manipulation Program is an open source software provided for free through the General Public License (GPL). The software can be implemented in a variety of operating systems such as Ubuntu, Windows, and Linux. Thus, the user can choose whether to use the software for free or paid image processing software to another.

In this chapter, we are assigned to create a magazine cover for our selves by following the step that shown in the exercise book.  We need to upload the image that need to edit by clicking "Open Image". At Scissors Tool, click on the antialiasing and feather edges. Using computer mouse, click on the image to crop it and press enter to finish it. Next, click Edit>Copy>File>New and set the new scale for 500 x 440. Then, click Edit>Paste. If the image paste is too big, click Scale Tool and change the image size using new scale which is, 342 x 401. Image can also move using Move Tool.

We can also edit the background using Bucket Fill Tool in Toolbox.Click FG color Fill on Fill Type. Then click, Foreground & Background Color in Toolbox to choose the color we want for the background and click Ok. Pour the color on the image background to fill it. That, how we edit image and even make a cover magazine using the GIMP software.

Audacity

For audio editing, we need to download the software Audacity to facilitate our work. The software can be downloaded at http://audacity.sourceforge.net. To start editing session, the microphone must be installed on your computer to record your voice. Press the "Record" button to record your voice. and press the "Stop" to stop. You can hear the listen back your  recording by pressing the "Play" button. To remove a voice that is not its target area, click on the "Selection Tool" and highlight the area you want to remove. After that, press the Delete button on your computer keyboard to remove it.

To improve the sound quality of the recording, click Edit in the menu bar and choose Select> All. Click Effects and then turn on the Bass and Treble and press Ok. Change the parameters according to your suitability. You can also include background music by clicking File> Import> AudioYou can even remove the vocals and just live music just like karaoke. Click Effects> Vocal Remover.

Movie Maker Video Editing

The software used is Windows Movie Maker. Although this software has its own limitation, this software can make your video more interesting.

For this chapter, we are assigned to create a video about anything nevertheless the topic. So, what pop up in my head is, I would like to show you guys my life as UPSI student. Like a fate, the time my lecturer assigned us with this assignment, my university held so many program that  I can barely record it.

For this assignment, I record my video using my phone and record my audio using my headphones and Audacity software. To upload my recording video and my pictures I just click Add videos and Photos and pick your video and pitcures. If your recording video contain the "unwanted" part, you can just move the narrator to the part you would like to remove it. Make sure you moves your narrator until the part you don't want it to be appear end. Next click Video Tool>Split and click the part you would like to remove and press your right button mouse and click Remove. For inserting caption, you can always click Home>Caption.  You can also change your text type and colour with animation by clicking at your own text and a Text Tools box will appear. From that tool box, you can edit your text appearance.  

To insert a music or an audio, click Add Music> Add music at current point for a specific audio you would like to appear at that time of video. Like how I insert my voice at certain part of my video. You can also put an effect on your video by clicking Visual Effect. For some reason, I have to slow down my recording audio so I just need to click the video i want to slow it down and click Video Tools>Speed. Choose your own preference of speed.
